BCBS and CommonSpirit

December 17th, 2020

Dear BVWC patients,

The deadline for the agreement between BCBC and CommonSpirit has come to an end. Unfortunately, they have not reached an agreement for the Texas division facility services. The facilities in the Bryan/College Station are that are affected are the CHI St. Joseph Health and CHI St. Joseph Health College Station Hospital.

If you are currently being treated for a disability, acute condition, life-threatening illness or if you are in the second trimester of your pregnancy (or as set forth in your health plan), you may be covered by what is known as “Continuity of Care.” This means you may still be able to use CHI St. Joseph facilities at the in-network level of benefits, but you will need to receive confirmation from your insurance.

If you have a procedure scheduled at a CommonSpirit Health facility after Dec. 16th, 2020, please call the customer service number on your ID card to ask about your benefit coverage. Until an agreement is reached, you will have to fill our a “Continuity of Care Request Form” https:www.bcbstx.com/pdf/bcbstx-continuity-of-care-form.pdf which may also be called a “Member Request for Transitional Care Benefits and Release of Information Form.” If you have any questions or need help filling out the Continuity of Care Request form, call the customer service number on your BCBSTX member ID card. The customer advocated will help answer questions about your specific benefits and provide guidance.
