The lack of desire is commonly called "decreased libido". This can occur early in life or in later life. The onset can be gradual or sudden. Some contributing factors include aging, fatigue, pregnancy, depression or anxiety, the use of certain medications and decreases in hormones such as Estrogen or Testosterone.
Difficulties with arousal also can stem from many conditions. These include a decrease in appropriate and adequate stimulation, decrease in lubrication, changes related to menopause, certain diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, and trauma or injuries. Certain medications or drug use, glandular or hormonal problems can also be involved.
The most likely cause of orgasmic dysfunction is due to medical conditions and use of certain medications. All of these issues can be discussed with your provider in a safe, non-threatening environment where you can begin to take steps to improve your sexual relationship.
